General Electric is an American diversified corporation, a manufacturer of many types of equipment, including locomotives, power plants, nuclear reactors, gas turbines, aircraft engines, medical equipment, photo equipment, household and lighting equipment, plastics and sealants. It is also a manufacturer of weapons, armored vehicles , military space systems and nuclear warheads.

It was founded by the famous inventor Thomas Edison in 1878 under the name Edison Electric Light. After merging with The Thomson-Houston Electric Company in 1892, it received its modern name. In 1902, the company began producing light bulbs with tungsten filament, in 1925 the first household refrigerator was launched, in 1928 it opened a broadcasting station and began broadcasting. In the same years, the company began cooperation with the US military, the world's first jet engine was launched.
