It was founded in 1923 as the Economics Laboratory, and the first products of the company were: Absorbit, a chemical detergent for mechanized washing of dishes and Soilax dishwasher soap. The company developed rapidly and absorbed competitors, spreading throughout America. The first foreign subsidiary of Economics Laboratory was established in Sweden in 1956. The following year, the company became public.In 1986, the company changed its name to Ecolab Inc. and transferred shares to the NYSE.In 1987, the company established a textile care unit and acquired a ChemLawn lawn care provider for $ 376 million.In 2007, Ecolab acquired Microtek Medical Holdings, Inc., expanding its experience in the field of infection prevention and the range of products for hospitals and other medical institutions. In August 2012, Ecolab opened its factory in China.
