Cabot Oil & Gas is an independent American company producing oil, natural gas and liquefied natural gas. It was founded in Texas in 1989. It carried out an IPO in 1990 and became a public company. The shares are traded on the NYSE under the ticker symbol COG. In 1994 Cabot Oil & Gas bought Washington Energy Resources for $ 180 million, and Cody Energy in 2001 for $ 230 million. It became part of the S & P 500 in 2008. The main activities of the company are concentrated in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Saskatchewan and Alberta (Canada).
