In 1987, it was reorganized into CMS Energy - a holding with two subsidiaries: Consumers Energy and CMS Enterprises. In 1997, the company was one of the first in the world to introduce online billing. Also, CMS Energy is known for its involvement in the protection of wildlife and the development of renewable energy.
