Albemarle Corp. is a large American manufacturer and distributor of chemicals for consumer electronics, oil refining, utilities, packaging, construction, transportation, pharmaceuticals, crop production, food preservation and custom chemicals.

The company was founded in 1993 in Louisiana. In 1994, Albemarle acquired the Japanese trading company Asano Corporation, seriously expanding its international influence. In 1998 and 2000, the company established joint ventures with a number of international companies (Jordan Dead Sea Industries Company, Arab Potash Compan, Jinhai Chemical and Industry Company), opening many chemical plants around the world. Also, in 2004, the company acquired the catalyst platform of the Akzo Nobel NV refineries with joint ventures in several countries. In 2014, Albemarle acquired Rockwood Holdings, becoming a manufacturer of lithium products, including salts and metals of lithium, lithium, lithium and cesium, as well as special metals. It is one of the largest lithium mining companies.
